Team Visit to Alston House Care Home
26/01/2023
Our team were able to look around the resident spaces, communal areas and gardens to take photos and admire the design elements that they had worked hard to achieve in this exciting new care home for Hamberley Care Homes.
The new covid-secure, state of the art, purpose built, modern home offers residential, dementia and nursing care within a luxury environment with 80 bright and spacious ensuite bedrooms over four floors with superb facilities. The care home has been designed to be fit for current and future care requirements for our client Hamberley Development.
The care home was part of a wider redevelopment on this former police station site which included 9 residential apartments. The original 1920’s police station building has been refurbished with four extra care apartments and a communal hub.
Alston House is delivered over connecting buildings ranging from two to four floors with clustered household living groups, extensive secure gardens and communal facilities including café, lounges, activity rooms, cinema, wine bar and hair salon. The project was redesigned over the pandemic period to include an isolation ward.
The interior layout and amenity gardens help residents retain their independence and carry on living healthy and fulfilling lives in an environment which offers outstanding accommodation and excellent amenities.
RDT Architects were appointed from conceptual design and through the planning and tender process by Hamberley Development and detailed design through to completion by the main contractor, Highwood Group.
The design/delivery team included Highwood Group, AKSWard Limited, Harniss Building Services Solutions, Park Grove Design Ltd. and Fed3 Projects Limited.
Thank you Hamberley Care Homes for facilitating this visit and we wish you all the very best with the opening.
