Completed in 2019, RDT Architects had the privilege of partnering with specialist care home contractors Lawrence Baker and care home operator Hallmark Care Homes to deliver a state-of-the-art 77-bedroom care home in Banstead, Surrey.

The Challenge: The project required us to create a highly functional yet aesthetically pleasing environment that could meet the complex needs of its residents while maintaining stringent design standards. The goal was to integrate advanced care facilities within a welcoming and comfortable setting, ensuring a high-quality living environment for all residents.

Our Approach: Our journey began with a comprehensive architectural review to ensure the design aligned perfectly with the operator's specific requirements. We then collaborated closely with Hardwood UK Developments and Lucas Design, providing detailed design services in a BIM-compliant format from post-tender stage through to project completion. This collaborative effort allowed us to achieve a seamless integration of functionality, aesthetics, and regulatory compliance.

The result: A care home featuring a café, pub, cinema room, various lounge and dining options, accessible landscaped gardens, and a summer house—all designed to enhance the residents' quality of life.

Working in partnership with industry leaders, we successfully delivered a project that stands as a benchmark for care home design, combining comfort and care in a beautiful, well-considered environment.
