Thanksgiving Day is an annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year.

Americans believe that their Thanksgiving is modelled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the Plymouth colonists and the Wampanoag people.

Black Friday follows as another national holiday and was created to lift sales by starting the Christmas shopping season in the US with many stores offering discounts and shops opening early. There are, however, many reported stories of why it is called Black Friday.
