CARBON REDUCTION PLAN

RDT Architects is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 01/09/2023 – 31/08/2024

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

Below is a breakdown of the emissions reported by RDT Architects for the baseline year stated above. This was calculated using the following key information:

  • 17 members of staff, with differing numbers of days in the office

  • Floor area of 207.04m2

  • RDT responsible for waste, water, purchases, energy, etc.

Baseline year emissions:

EMISSIONS                          TOTAL (tCO2e)

Scope 1                                          2.32

Scope 2                                          3.37

Scope 3 (Included Sources)        40.49

Total Emissions                            46.18

Current Emissions Reporting

Reporting Year: 01/09/2024 – 31/08/2025

Additional Details relating to the Reporting Year Emissions calculations.

Below is a breakdown of the emissions reported by RDT Architects for the year stated above. This was calculated using the following key information:

  • 18 members of staff, with differing numbers of days in the office

  • Floor area of 207.04m2

  • RDT responsible for waste, water, purchases, energy, etc.

  • This information will change for the next Reporting Year due to RDT Architects’ move to Morton House.

Reporting year emissions:

EMISSIONS                         TOTAL (tCO2e)

Scope 1                                         2.36

Scope 2                                         9.41

Scope 3 (Included Sources)       51.38

Total Emissions                           63.16

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress towards achieving Net Zero, we will be adopting a number of carbon reduction targets and strategies. Part of this will be becoming ISO 14001 certified, for which we have had a gap analysis undertaken.  â€‹Once we have calculated our projected carbon emissions, we will be able to report what our decrease in emissions will be over the next five years.  â€‹Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Since calculating our baseline year, we have implemented the following measures to begin reducing our carbon emissions:

  • Printing / paper reduction,

  • Personnel waste bin removal,

  • Energy efficient lighting,

  • Two screen workstations,

  • Digital documentation,

  • Comprehensive recycling,

  • Staff energy responsibility (turning off monitors, keyboards, lights, etc),

  • Thorough carbon monitoring.

In the future, we hope to implement further measures. We have begun this process by seeking to become ISO 14001 certified. The gap analysis for this has been undertaken and we will be working to improve our sustainability systems in order to achieve certification. This will include:

  • Develop an Environmental Management System to meet the specific requirements of ISO 14001,

  • Implement specific protocols, documentation, and training to establish the EMS effectively within the business,

  • Carry out internal audits to verify that the EMS is working correctly (and adapt it where necessary),

  • Request an official certification audit to obtain ISO 14001 certification,

  • Conduct regular internal audits to ensure that our implemented systems and documents stay up to date with any changes within the business.

Once these have been implemented, we will be able to report what our decrease in emissions has been due to implementing them.

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors.
