Acute Brain Injury Care in Basingstoke
29/02/2024
This 28 bedroom specialist acute brain injury care facility for Inspire Neurocare has been carefully designed with a focus on addressing the unique needs of its residents who experience physical and cognitive conditions.
RDT were appointed on all work stages from feasibility, planning and construction, working with Hamberley Development on the wider masterplan which included the design of Dashwood Manor Care Home for Hamberley Care Homes, which is now operated by Care UK, and 40 retirement apartments for McCarthy Stone.
The needs of the end user were of paramount importance from the outset. The residents profile includes those who suffer from physical and cognitive conditions. The building needs to provide residents with good levels of comfort and flexibility in the choice in their day to day lives.
The collaborative approach of working alongside the interior designers and operations teams allows for an internal environment with focal destination, natural light and active areas which continue to the exterior architecture.
On the ground floor there is a welcoming entrance with connecting offices, accessible ensuite resident accommodation and assisted bathroom as well as the physiotherapy gym, nurse stations, hair salon, a quiet lounge and a larger lounge/dining area. Bedrooms to the rear of the property have direct access to the landscaped gardens.
The first floor also has ensuite resident accommodation and its own quiet lounge and larger lounge/dining area. There is also a rehabilitation apartment, therapy room, assisted bathroom and nurse areas on this floor.
Staff facilities are on the second floor and include laundry, kitchen, training room, staff room and changing facilities.
If you have a similar challenge or require innovation and attention to detail on your specialist care homes, our team would be delighted to discuss this further with you.
