The care home was part of a wider redevelopment on this former police station site which included 9 residential apartments. The original 1920’s police station building has been refurbished with four extra care apartments and a communal hub.

Alston House is delivered over connecting buildings ranging from two to four floors with clustered household living groups, extensive secure gardens and communal facilities including café, lounges, activity rooms, cinema, wine bar and hair salon. The project was redesigned over the pandemic period to include an isolation ward.

The interior layout and amenity gardens help residents retain their independence and carry on living healthy and fulfilling lives in an environment which offers outstanding accommodation and excellent amenities.

RDT Architects were appointed for conceptual design and through the planning and tender process by Hamberley Development and detailed design through to completion by the main contractor, Highwood Group, utilising BIM 3D design.
