First WiRL Event: An Inspiring Evening at The Shard

Last night, Marion attended her first WiRL (Women in Retirement Living) event at The Shard - and what a fantastic introduction to such a welcoming and inspiring network.

It was a great evening filled with friendly conversations, meaningful connections and the opportunity to meet others working across the same sector, all sharing ideas, experiences and a real passion for improving retirement living.

It was lovely to connect, exchange perspectives and hear more about the work being done across the sector.

One of the standout moments of the evening was an insightful presentation from Marrons, highlighting some of the important challenges facing women in later life — including the fact that women typically live longer than men, often have lower pensions, and can face a lack of suitable living facilities that truly respond to their needs.

The event also included a fantastic account of WiRL’s mentoring programme, with participants sharing first-hand how the experience has supported them, helped build confidence and encouraged them to see themselves as strong, capable leaders within the retirement living sector.

A thoroughly enjoyable and thought-provoking evening — thank you to WiRL for creating such a positive space for connection, conversation and collaboration.
