Dudbrook Hall Care Home, Brentwood

RDT Architects have been commissioned by Horizon Construction London for RIBA work stage 4-6 for a new 62 bedroom care home in Brentwood for St. Michael’s Homes Limited.

The original country manor house dates back to the 18th century and was converted to a care home in 1993 by St. Michael’s Homes, a family owned company who have been operating in Essex since 1991.

The existing Dudbrook Hall Care Home has been extended over time but required extensive modernisation to provide the comfort and facilities now required from residents. St Michael’s Homes are utilising the adjoining land to build a new care home which meets all the needs of a modern care home.
The new build care home will be predominantly 2-storey with staff and ancillary facilities in the basement and 62 bedrooms, lounges and dining areas on the ground and first floor. The typography of the site means that there will be a choice of landscaped gardens, patios and balconies around the building for residents to enjoy.

Once the works are complete the residents of the existing Dudbrook Hall Care Home will move across to the new care home. Further works will then commence on the retained manor house to take Dudbrook Hall back to its original form. This will provide a day care centre and nursery facility which would integrate and stimulate social interactions between the age groups and improve the mental and physical wellbeing of the elderly.
