We're thrilled to embark on a new care home project for Hertfordshire County Council!

As part of this journey, the team at RDT have been visiting standout local care homes for inspiration.

Recently, our MD, Cheten, and Director of Operations, Stephen, visited Quantum Care's Anson Court Care Home in Welwyn Garden City and Garden City Court Care Home in Letchworth. We were especially excited to revisit the Letchworth home, which we designed and supported through to completion 7 years ago.

It was fascinating to see how the space is serving both staff and residents in a constantly evolving field, where the needs of elderly and dementia care continue to shift due to innovation and research.
We also conducted a post-occupancy evaluation with Herts CC and Ashden Project Managers, gathering valuable feedback to inform this and future projects.

Home Manager’s comments:
• We really like the feel of the entrance area with its village centre feel.
• Well used terrace at second floor level.
• Open plan lounge dining areas to resident households assists with staff management of residents with great visibility to all areas of day space from central kitchenette.

We will feed all comments and observations into future care home designs and look forward to sharing more updates on this new Herts care home soon!
