RDT Architects initially worked on the feasibility and planning stages of this award winning 75 bedroom dementia care home and day centre on a 2 acre former primary school redevelopment site and retained as design advisors during the construction phase and appointed by the main contractor ISG for detailed design services.

This purpose built home accommodates a communal hub providing cafe/bistro, hair salon, shops and care support facilities and was one of the first #BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rated care homes.
Each residential wing is sub divided into household groups of 7 or 8 residents, providing the sense of ownership and varying levels of privacy and choice.

RDT were awarded ‘Architect of the Year’ in Herts Building & Construction Awards and ‘SME of the Year’ in the Constructing Excellence Awards for this project as well as a commendation in the Hertfordshire Association of Architects.

We are delighted that this project has led us to work on further care home and residential masterplan projects with Hertfordshire County Council including Broxbourne Nursing Home and Little Furze Care Home.
