Little Furze New Care Home
04/01/2024
The care home forms part of a 2 acre land parcel of the former Little Furze Primary School which also provides 70 residential homes and apartments.
RDT Architects have been involved from project inception with Hertfordshire County Council through the feasibility and planning stages for the site. The project has now progressed through the design and RDT Architects have been novated to Kori Construction for the construction stage, whilst retained by the Council as a client advisory consultant.
The success of the project has been centred on the collaboration of RDT Architects and Herts CC, with a specific focus on integrating sustainability and innovation into the building design. Together with resolving the unique site challenges, focusing on a ‘fabric first’ approach low carbon strategy and the use of PV roof mounted panels and air source heat pump renewable energy solutions, this project showcases a commitment to both environmental responsibility alongside resident wellbeing.
The incorporation of external amenity gardens at every level and the integration with the steep topography provides residents of all mobility with access to green spaces and enhances their overall quality of life.
Our care homes are designed to provide spaces and environments to enhance the quality of life for residents and staff. Our thoughtful layouts, attention to detail and our experience in the care sector ensures the final building outcome will enable residents to experience choice, comfort and safety in the home.
