The new Clubhouse was opened by former Ryder Cup player and broadcaster Ken Brown. HCGC was his local club where he would practice but he also had his first job there as a greenkeeper.

The project received a Harpenden Society award for its design and appearance which they felt complemented the rural surroundings.

RDT provided feasibility, planning and detailed design as well as engineering services for the Clubhouse which is positioned in a green belt and local conservation area.

Full planning consent was granted at committee following detailed negotiation with key stakeholders and St. Albans District Council for this sensitive development.

The Clubhouse was built on the same plot as the old clubhouse so it retains the unique and dramatic position overlooking the 18th green.

There are bars and dining on two levels both with floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony and terrace providing spectacular and uninterrupted views of the course.
