New 75 Bed Care Home
08/11/2023
RDT are excited by the progress on site of this new care home, having worked through the feasibility and planning stages and now working on the detailed design work for the main contractor Kori Construction as well as acting as Consultant for Herts County Council.
The purpose built dementia and nursing care home on a 3 acre land parcel is part of a wider masterplan on this 12 acre site for Herts County Council including up to 70 new homes.
The integration of sustainability and innovation, along with overcoming unique site challenges, demonstrates a thoughtful and holistic approach to the building. The focus on a ‘fabric first’ approach low carbon strategy, and the use of PV roof mounted panels and air source heat pump renewable energy solutions, showcases a commitment to both environmental responsibility alongside resident wellbeing.
The incorporation of external amenity gardens at every level due to the integration with the steep topography provides residents of all mobility with access to green spaces and enhances their overall quality of life.
The collaboration between RDT Architects, Kori Construction, Herts CC, CPW, Ashden, Scott White Hookin and the rest of the project team highlights the importance of teamwork in realising such complex projects.
