Opening of Broxbourne Care Home

Having worked on the project for some years throughout the conceptual design, planning and construction phases we were pleased to attend the official opening ceremony last week.

This new purpose built 77 bedroom nursing care home for our client Herts County Council and operator Gold Care Homes was part of a 3.6 acre redevelopment on a former primary school site and RDT were part of the wider master plan design which includes 13 residential dwellings.

The riverside care home is delivered over two floors with clustered household living groups surrounding a central courtyard garden with further communal facilities including a café, lounges, activity room and hair salon opening out over a number of amenity gardens, terraces and balconies. There is also provision for bariatric care and an isolation ward.

The official opening event was attended by Cllr Richard Roberts, Leader of Hertfordshire County Council who stated “Broxbourne Nursing Home showcases best practice in design, build, innovation through technology and personalised care. It also helps local people to stay within their community, retain their independence and carry on living healthy and fulfilling lives.”

Cllr Roberts was joined by the Mayor of Broxbourne, Ravi Gidar, Chairman of Gold Care Homes, and Margaret, the very first resident of Broxbourne Nursing Home, who cut the ribbon to officially open the nursing home.

Cllr Tony Kingsbury added: “It is really clear that Broxbourne Nursing Home exemplifies our approach to care for older people in Hertfordshire, helping help people to carry on being independent and to be looked after in a place that really does look and feel more like home, in somewhere they feel comfortable and safe.”

Broxbourne Nursing home takes care to the next level. This brand new care home offers outstanding luxury accommodation, excellent amenities and exceptional care creating a safe, happy, and fulfilling living environment. It offers residential, dementia, nursing and respite care.

The design/delivery team includes Clegg Construction, Couch Perry Wilkes, Herts Building Control and Project Managers Aedifice.
