Start on Site: New Oakland Care Home in Hoddesdon

We’re pleased to share that work has started on site for a new 75-bedroom care home at Hailey, Hoddesdon for Oakland Care.

The project will deliver a 75-bedroom, three-storey care home, creating a high-quality residential care environment designed around comfort, safety, wellbeing and day-to-day operational efficiency.

Following feasibility design and planning input from RDT Architects, we have now been appointed for RIBA Work Stages 4–6, working alongside main contractor Pacey & Wheatley as the scheme moves into the construction phase.

This is an important project for the local area, helping to provide much-needed, modern care accommodation in Hoddesdon while creating a setting that supports residents, families, staff and visitors. The home has been carefully planned to sit within its suburban context.

Design features include communal spaces for residents to relax and socialise, direct access from many ground-floor rooms to private terraces, outdoor seating areas, a gardening area, recreational lawn, sensory garden, wetland and wildflower meadow. The landscape strategy also incorporates new tree planting, habitat enhancements and integrated bird and bat boxes, supporting biodiversity as part of the wider scheme.

We look forward to seeing the project progress on site and continuing our collaboration with Oakland Care, P&W and the wider project team to deliver a care home that combines thoughtful design, buildability and long-term value for the community.
