Back in 2012, we completed the Knebworth Care Home in Woolmer Green, which was a benchmark for high-quality nursing care in a beautiful setting overlooking the Hertfordshire countryside.

Challenge:
The goal was to create a 71-bedroom care home that not only met the specialist nursing needs of residents but also provided an exceptional lifestyle in a welcoming environment. RDT Architects were involved throughout the entire process, from site acquisition and feasibility through to planning, design, and construction.

Approach:
RDT Architects played a pivotal role from the outset, overseeing every stage of the project to ensure that both functional needs and aesthetic desires were met. We were also novated to the main contractor to continue providing architectural services during the construction phase. Our focus was on creating a space that combined practicality with comfort, designing en-suites for all bedrooms, a variety of communal living and dining areas, and amenities such as a café, bar, hair salon, and accessible gardens.

Result:
The completed Knebworth Care Home, now operated by CareUK, offers residents a superb quality of life in a nurturing environment. With a choice of social and private spaces, residents can enjoy the lifestyle that suits them best. The project showcases our commitment to thoughtful design and attention to detail, ensuring a comfortable and supportive home for those in need of specialist care.
